In regular wigs, shorter strands are hidden within the weft. Over time, they shift and wrap around the longer hairs, creating that frustrating, progressive matting. That's what causes the long detangling sessions. SDD hair contains almost none of those short strands—length consistency is over 90%. So water flows through cleanly, your brush glides root to tip in one motion, and tangles don't build up with each wear.

To be honest, the lifespan of an SDD wig really depends on how you define "lifespan." If you're talking about keeping that "defined, non-frizzy, thick-ended" look—with proper care and wearing it 3–4 times a week—the majority of our clients report getting 1.5 to 2 years. Sure, we do have customers who’ve made it to year three. But by then, the ends won’t be as smooth or hold a style quite like they did when new. We don’t promise “3 years for everyone”—that’s overkill. But a solid 2 years? That’s a very real advantage SDD has over standard wigs.

From a technical perspective, Super Double Drawn refers to the most rigorous grade of hair sorting in the industry. The term "drawn" describes the process of combing through raw hair to remove shorter strands, ensuring near-uniform length from weft to tip. Single Drawn: About half the strands are full-length; noticeable thinning toward the ends. *Double Drawn: Roughly 65–80% of strands are full-length; thick with minimal tapering.* *Super Double Drawn: 85–95% of strands are full-length; only a trace amount of shorter hair remains.* It's important to note that 100% uniformity is not the goal—it would actually look stiff and artificial. The standard for SDD caps at around 95%, offering maximum fullness while retaining natural movement. This grade typically requires two to three times more raw virgin or Remy hair to produce a single weft compared to standard options.
